Don’t Allow the “Fear of Change” Stop You From Reaching Your Goals

This blog is for all of us who have allowed the “fear of change” to stop us from going after our dreams and goals.
In my last blog I said that one of the reasons we may not be getting what we want out of life is because we let the demands and risks of going for our dreams allow our fear of change to stop us.
I quoted Bob Proctor in his book “Born Rich”, where he said: “All too often the things that we desire are not the things that we expect because we allow the demands and the risks to control whether or not we will do what is necessary to get our desires.”
He also said: “Worry is the opposite of expectation, using the same energy. Worry sets up a magnetic force that attracts things of a like nature or events or people to cause that worry state to eventually manifest itself in one’s life.”
What he is saying is that whatever we concentrate on is going to happen in our lives – either good or bad.
So why do 80% of people fail to reach their goals and dreams?
They choose to allow circumstances, created by their own negative expectations, to derail them – to cause them to give up and settle for something less than they want!
How do we prevent this from happening to our dreams and goals?
One of the first things we can do is be aware that these risks, demands and fears are going to come. It is part of the process of trying to change our lives.
When we do start to experience one of these feelings we need to stop, try to identify it and where it is coming from – and then eliminate it.
The best way that I have found to do this is to sit quietly and use the following form to identify the cause of my fears. Basically, just fill in the blanks.
I AM FEELING _____(write in the emotion you are feeling: fearful, anxious, uncertain, reluctant, etc) _____
AT (OR ABOUT) ______(write in, in detail, exactly what you are having these fearful feelings about) ______
BECAUSE ____ (Write down all the reasons you can think of for why you are feeling this fear) ______
AND THAT MAKES ME FEEL _____(There are always secondary or deeper reasons for the fears that we have. By thinking about and answering this question, we are trying to get to the deeper reason – the real cause of the fear) _____
BECAUSE (OR THAT REMINDS ME OF)______(This is another version of the above question – trying to get to the core issue or core fear)_______
Just going through this process is so extremely powerful because we are no longer reacting to the circumstance. When a person is in stress mode, the blood is going to their back “survival” brain; not to their front “thinking” brain.
By taking the time to answer these questions, you are using your front “thinking” brain. That alone will put you back in control again.
Once you have identified what is causing your “fear of change”, then using EFT balance will eliminate it. Often, it comes from negative, early childhood conditioning. If this is the case, EFT is one of the few things than can eliminate it.
You can stay on track and achieve your dreams and goals if you will follow this extremely powerful but simple formula.
