True Cause of Stress: Past Conditioning

If you are not getting the results you want, it’s because your mental model of the world has a negative emotional block that is stopping you.

Dr. John Thie, the found of “Touch for Health”, an energy therapy modality, said: “Realize that you can have whatever you are willing to receive.  It’s not a matter of gaining anything.  It’s a matter of shedding things that have come between you and the successful universe that surrounds you right now.”

It’s very easy to demonstrate that it is our perception of the event that causes our stress and not the event itself.  Countless times, people will experience the same event but respond in completely different ways.

For example, let’s say that I had two people standing in front of me and I poured a jug of water over each of their heads.  One person could laugh and say how refreshing it was and the other person could be absolutely furious.  They each experienced the same event but their response was very different.  The angry person has had something happen in their past that triggered a negative emotional response when the water was poured over their head.  The other has not.

Or you could have two women standing side by side.  A man walking by, smiles at both women.  One is flattered, the other frightened.  Once again, they both experienced the same event but had a different response.  The frightened woman has had something happen in her past to make her afraid of men.

Shirley McLeane, the actress and author said (paraphrased): “We do not see the world as it is; we see it as we are.”

Can you see how we can be controlled by past events that we may not even be aware of?  Our reactions to present day events, using past conditioned responses, are what is really causing our stress!
